Wood Burning Stove and Solar Oven

After a few days, cooking has been improved.

On one hand, Juan Gonzalo and Alfred, with the help of other interns, have been working on a solar oven. A concave reflective structure that concentrates the solar rays into a single point, thus creating heat that can (and will!) be used for cooking.

On the other, the wood burning stove has been set. With the biomass that Valldaura itself generates, both the oven and the cooktop, plus the extra heat for the house are achieved. Used back in the old days, it’s a nice appliance that optimizes the use of heat in a great way, proving that sometimes there is no need to watch in the future, but to search in the past for great solutions. Plus, one can cook directly from fire, achieving the great taste that comes out from cooking directly from burning wood.
