Workshop for the IAAC students: lumbering, land preparation, planting

On March 18, a group of students attended a workshop of the IAAC in Valldaura.

After the design conducted by Andreu Vila in Valldaura, the students prepared the ground for sustainable forest management, preparing the areas dedicated to forage for horses and goats. In practical terms, students learned to cut down a tree (according to Valldaura’s special plan of forest management and supervised by an expert), in this case, a pine, to then clean the land and use it for planting lucerne and grasses.

Once the tree felled and they cleared the ground, the work began on the ground: while some students cleaned land, plowing and moving it; others scattered seeds in the targeted areas to ensure healthy growth and strong plants in future. After working hours, there was only waiting for nature to do the rest.

After, the students were treated to a meal as a rest between the working hours, and  once finished, they celebrated the end of the day with another snack.

The photos of the day can be visited in this album.

A few weeks later, the first results appeared.
